On Monday, May 15, 2017, at approximately 10:58 p.m., firefighters from Lake Zurich responded to a house fire at 22580 Somerset Court. Upon arrival, they discovered that the garage and several vehicles were already engulfed in flames. Due to the severity of the situation and the lack of nearby hydrants, the alarm was upgraded to a MABAS Box Alarm, which brought in multiple fire trucks and water tenders to supply the necessary resources for the operation.
The scene quickly became a coordinated effort involving multiple fire departments, including Long Grove and Fox Lake, who provided additional support with tankers to transport water to the site. Firefighters worked tirelessly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to neighboring properties. The area remained under control, and no injuries were reported.
The fire left significant damage, with the house and surrounding structures reduced to smoldering ruins. Emergency personnel, along with local residents, watched as crews worked through the night to ensure the fire was fully extinguished. Aftermath photos captured the intensity of the event, showing fire engines lined up, firefighters using hoses, and the aftermath of the destruction.
