For the fifth consecutive year, the export of the first Great Wall pickups has been demonstrated (Figure)

More than 2,260 Great Wall Motor vehicles are prepared for export at the port, marking five consecutive years of steady growth. These trucks have been making a name for themselves in international markets, as noted by Wang Fengying, General Manager of Great Wall Motors, in her response to a report at the end of September. Over 2,260 units were loaded into ships at Tianjin Xingang, destined for the Middle East and Africa. The export range is not only diverse but also covers multiple countries, with the Deere double-row pickup series being a key product. Alongside that, there are various models like the single-row pickup, the popular Sauvage SUV, and the Saying RUV. The main export destinations include Gulf countries in the Middle East and several African nations. Great Wall Motors has consistently maintained the largest export volume for five years since 1998. When asked about its international strategy, Wang emphasized the company's focus on both quality and efficiency, ensuring strong foreign exchange earnings. The exports emphasize product reliability and after-sales support, enabling them to compete effectively against imports from developed countries like the U.S. and Japan. Great Wall Motors has established an international technical service center and deployed professional teams to key markets such as the Middle East and Africa. It has also set up numerous overseas marketing centers, forming a solid global network. In Saudi Arabia alone, four integrated service centers operate under one roof. Additionally, the company has successfully engaged in CKD (completely knocked down) and SKD (semi-knocked down) assembly projects abroad. In overseas markets, Great Wall pickups stand out due to their cost-effectiveness. While high-end pick-ups in developed countries command premium prices, Chinese models offer comparable performance at significantly lower costs. For instance, in the Middle East, local prices for Great Wall pickups are around $7,000–$8,000, compared to $12,500–$14,500 for imported brands. This competitive pricing, combined with reliable performance, has helped the brand gain recognition. Foreign customers praise Great Wall for its strong technical content, good after-sales service, and reliable engine performance. The 491QE engine, tested in harsh environments across the Middle East, North Africa, and South Africa, has built a solid reputation. Many international companies visit Great Wall to explore collaboration opportunities, with distributors from Paraguay and Russia already signing agreements. Looking ahead, Great Wall plans to target untapped markets, introduce new models, and expand its product range. It aims to create affordable, practical vehicles that meet the needs of everyday consumers. By leveraging low labor costs, it can offer even more competitive pricing. The company will also strengthen its overseas marketing and service networks to build long-term brand presence and continue exploring CKD/SKD partnerships. Domestic auto exporters, like Great Wall, benefit from strong brand value and cost-performance ratios. Their independent production capabilities, flexible manufacturing, and efficient operations give them a competitive edge over joint ventures, which often face higher costs and market constraints. While challenges remain—such as building sales networks and increasing brand awareness—Great Wall sees these as part of the journey toward global expansion. Exported vehicles are customized to suit local conditions. For example, cars exported to Saudi Arabia feature red interiors, improved cargo compartments, and climate-adapted cooling systems. All components meet international standards, ensuring reliability and comfort in diverse environments. This attention to detail helps Great Wall maintain its strong foothold in global markets.
