China's largest single-slot volume flotation machine was successfully developed

China's largest single-cell flotation machine, the KYF-160 Inflatable Mechanical Agitation Flotation Machine, was successfully developed by the Beijing Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. It has passed expert evaluation organized by the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association. This marks the first large-scale flotation machine developed by the institute in 2000. Following the successful development of the KYF-50, the first large-scale flotation machine with independent intellectual property rights in China, the KYF-160 represents another major technological breakthrough in the field of large-scale flotation equipment. The successful development of the KYF-160 has filled a critical gap in China’s research, design, manufacturing, and application of super-large flotation machines. It has significantly narrowed the technological gap between China's large flotation equipment and international standards. This advancement provides strong support for upgrading the equipment level of mine concentrators and promoting the modernization and large-scale development of China's mining industry. This advanced flotation machine is widely applicable across various mineral processing fields, including non-ferrous metals, ferrous metals, and non-metallic minerals. Its broad market potential makes it a valuable asset in the industry. As the global economy and technology continue to grow rapidly, the demand for higher quality and greater quantity of mineral raw materials has increased. In response to these challenges and future trends in mineral resources, many mineral processing companies are expanding their concentrator capacities to achieve better economic returns. Many new concentrators now process over 10,000 tons daily, and the use of large-scale flotation equipment offers numerous advantages, such as compact installation, efficient automation, lower capital investment, and higher overall economic benefits. Internationally, large-scale flotation machines typically have a single tank volume of around 100 cubic meters. However, China currently lags behind by about 20 cubic meters, which limits the ability of domestic mines to meet modernization and large-scale construction needs. As a result, foreign manufacturers have dominated the market, forcing Chinese concentrators to purchase expensive equipment, increasing infrastructure costs, and reducing profitability. Developing large-scale, high-efficiency flotation equipment with independent intellectual property rights has become an urgent need for China’s mineral processing industry. The BGRIMM series flotation machines, developed by the Beijing Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, are used in 75% to 80% of large and medium-sized mines in China. The KYF-160 has a single tank volume of 160 cubic meters and features a unique impeller-stator structure. It ensures a large pulp circulation, low energy consumption, sufficient slurry suspension, uniform particle distribution, and stable radial flow, resulting in high recovery rates for both coarse and fine minerals. Its innovative dual foam tank and double push bubble cone design allows for efficient foam discharge, while self-control technology maintains the desired slurry level. Industrial tests have shown that the KYF-160 significantly improves concentrate grade, useful component recovery, and operational efficiency. It also reduces energy consumption per unit of mineral processing. Overall, the machine’s performance and technical and economic indicators have reached international advanced levels.
