Saturday morning saw firefighters from Wheeling and Prospect Heights respond to a fire alarm at 375 Plum Creek Drive. Upon arrival, crews discovered flames erupting from a third-floor balcony on the southern side of the building. The situation escalated to a Working Fire status, prompting reinforcements from neighboring departments including Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Glenview, Des Plaines, Niles, the North Maine Fire Protection District, and Northbrook.

In the initial stages of the operation, firefighters from Wheeling’s Truck 24 initiated an exterior attack using a 2 1/2-inch hose line positioned at ground level. Simultaneously, Engine 23 and Engine 24 teams launched an interior assault to douse the flames within the affected apartment. Thanks to their coordinated efforts, one resident was safely transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
