Hey everyone, I just wanted to share some images from the recent box alarm at 73 Northgate Road in Riverside. When we arrived, the fire was already in the basement, with thick smoke billowing out of the chimney. Command quickly directed Engine 1621 to lead a hose line into the house to extinguish the flames, while Truck 1629 was positioned on the roof for ventilation purposes. It took around 20 minutes to get the fire under control. Unfortunately, there aren’t any clear shots of the flames themselves, but the smoke patterns before crews entered were pretty fascinating.
Attached, you’ll find several photos of the firefighting equipment and the affected structure. As an interesting side note, Forest View is currently operating with the Darien-Woodridge reserve engine, which is labeled “Southwest United Fire Districts.†This is due to both of their engines being out of service after suffering water damage to their electrical systems following the massive flood they experienced about a month ago. Additionally, LaGrange has repurposed their older Pierce model and continues to use it for mutual aid calls.
