Hey everyone, I just wanted to share some images from a recent house fire we responded to in Riverside, Illinois, on Northgate Road. The fire originated in the basement when our teams arrived, with thick smoke billowing out of the chimney. Command quickly got Engine 1621 in position to lead a hose line into the building to extinguish the flames, while Truck 1629 focused on ventilating the roof. It didn’t take long—about 20 minutes total—to get the fire under control. Unfortunately, there aren't any photos showing actual flames, but there are some really interesting shots capturing the smoke patterns before crews went inside.
Attached here are several pictures of the involved structure as well as various firefighting vehicles on scene. You’ll notice that Forest View is currently running a borrowed Darien-Woodridge reserve engine labeled “Southwest United Fire Districts.†That’s because both of their regular engines are out of commission due to water damage to their electrical systems following that massive flood they experienced a few weeks back. Meanwhile, LaGrange has repurposed their older Pierce apparatus and continues to use it for mutual aid responses.
Take a look at these images—they really capture the intensity and teamwork involved during such incidents. Special thanks to Drew Gresik for providing these photos!
