Chicago area Snorkel history: Stickney

Hey everyone, I just came across some old photos of the Stickney Fire Department’s snorkel truck, and thought I’d share them with you. These pictures are from my personal collection, so I don’t have all the specific details about the equipment or specs. But I figured they’d still be interesting to check out. Attached, you’ll see an image of the old snorkel truck we used back in the day. It’s not much to look at now, but it was definitely a workhorse during its time. I wish I could give you more technical info, but unfortunately, I don’t have that on hand. Still, it’s cool to see how things were back then. In addition to the snorkel shot, I also found two pictures taken by my dad in the 80s. One of them was snapped at a fire in Berwyn near Ridgeland and Cermak. The other one shows the same snorkel truck responding to another blaze along Cermak Road. Those old fires must’ve been something else! Take a look at these photos—I think they’re pretty neat. If anyone has any stories or additional info about this rig, let me know because I’d love to hear it. Best regards, Josh Boyajian --- P.S. Special thanks to my dad for keeping these photos safe over the years. He always had a knack for capturing moments like these!
