**From Scott Peterson:**
I just came across this accident a short while ago, maybe five or ten minutes after it happened. It occurred on Randall Road right in front of Biaggi's Restaurant. There isn’t much information available yet, but from what I can gather, the driver was heading northbound when they somehow veered into the southbound lanes about two blocks before the crash. They hit a lamppost first, then a tree, and finally slammed into the big restaurant sign. The driver was trapped inside the vehicle, and it took emergency responders around 20 minutes to successfully extricate them. A helicopter rescue was requested, but unfortunately, the weather conditions prevented the flight crew from being able to respond.
Algonquin’s emergency response team did an incredible job. Eng 142, 141, Ambulances 142 & 141, and Shift Command 130 were all on the scene quickly. I’ve attached some photos I took that show the extent of the damage. It was quite a chaotic scene, but everyone worked together efficiently to ensure the situation was handled as safely and smoothly as possible. Kudos to the firefighters and paramedics for their quick thinking and professionalism!
[Attached are several photos showing the aftermath of the accident—each one capturing different angles of the damaged car and the efforts to free the driver.]
