Water-saving and efficient self-propelled sprinklers successfully passed the acceptance test

The multi-functional small cantilever self-propelled sprinkler is a revolutionary agricultural tool designed for even water distribution, water and labor saving, and precise application of fertilizers and pesticides. It can be operated both manually and remotely, offering a high level of flexibility. Developed by the Planning and Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture, this innovative device has recently passed expert evaluation as part of a special technical research project aimed at adjusting agricultural structures. China's planting area for economic crops has expanded rapidly, yet many farmers still rely on traditional methods such as manual irrigation, fertilization, and spraying due to the lack of suitable machinery. This includes potted plants, bagged crops, and seedlings, which are often limited by their containers, leading to uneven watering. Conventional sprinklers also suffer from poor spray uniformity and strong impact on crops, potentially damaging young plants. Additionally, they lack adjustable spray settings, making it difficult to apply fertilizers or pesticides effectively. Traditional methods not only waste water, chemicals, and fertilizers but also require significant labor and reduce productivity. This leads to environmental degradation and inconsistent quality in agricultural products. The new cantilever self-propelled sprinkler, developed by the Ministry of Agriculture's Planning and Research Institute, addresses these issues. It uses computer programming control technology, offering a high level of automation. Field tests have shown that it saves 60.9% water and 60% labor compared to manual irrigation. Its cost is 60% lower than similar imported products, with an impressive input-output ratio of 1:6.6. Dalian Century Seedling Co., Ltd. previously used water guns for irrigation, resulting in uneven water distribution, poor soil permeability, low germination rates, weak plants, and irregular growth. This required extensive manual work and increased seed usage. After adopting the new sprinkler, greenhouse humidity became more stable, plants grew healthier and more uniformly, and disease incidence dropped significantly. Compared to foreign imports, this device offers additional features like fertilization and remote control, making it more user-friendly and cost-effective. Its implementation at the Xijiao Biological Garden in Dalian led to a more than 10% increase in seedling income, along with significant savings in labor, water, and chemical inputs. In just one year, the garden saw an additional 300,000 yuan in revenue. This innovation is proving to be a game-changer for modern agriculture, improving efficiency, sustainability, and profitability.
