NXP Integrates NFC in LPC800 Family of Microcontrollers to Enable Smart Label Innovation for IoT Applications

NXP Semiconductors (NASDAQ: NXPI), a leading global provider of mass market microcontrollers, today announced the availability of the new LPC8N04 MCUs. The LPC8N04 MCU is the latest addition to the rapidly expanding 32-bit MCU LPC800 family based on the ARM® Cortex ™ -M0 +. The LPC8N04 MCU is optimized to integrate Near Field Communication (NFC) interfaces with energy harvesting to meet the growing market demand for cost-effective, short-range two-way wireless communications.

With the rapid development of NFC reader technology and the rich graphics capabilities of today's smartphones, the use of NFC technology goes beyond the initial point-and-shoot concept with the open developer ecosystem based on iOS and Android applications. The LPC8N04 MCU enables developers to quickly implement a wide range of solutions that utilize the system's diagnostic or environmental conditions for a smarter marking experience. With the added benefit of flexible communication modes, today's solutions can also push data to edge nodes based on the LPC8N04 MCU, for example in device setup, configuration, or customization.
