ASV Global launches C-Worker 5 automatic watercraft

Designed, built and operated by ASV Global, the C-Worker 5 automatic watercraft is an ideal platform for offshore engineering and investigation operations, using advanced hydrology, positioning and communication systems. During the Southampton Marine Business Conference in the UK, C-Worker 5 also demonstrated various systems from Kongsberg Maritime, including the EM2040P, Seapath 130, MicroPAP and Maritime Broadband Radio. The underwater positioning of the automatic watercraft will be provided by Kongsberg Marine's cNODE transponder. This sensor selection will demonstrate the C-Worker 5 survey and subsea positioning platform capabilities, and visitors will also see the dynamic ASView® control system. .

C-Worker 5 has a precedent for reducing the cost of survey operations, enabling data collection at level 5 seawater conditions. In 2016, the TerraSond survey company used C-Worker 5 and survey vessels to conduct large-scale hydrological surveys in the Bering Strait area of ​​Alaska. C-Worker 5 collected 2,275 nautical miles of data, accounting for 44% of the total survey, saving nearly 25 days of on-site work.
