I conquered the gasification coal-fired coal production problem

Last week, the Inner Mongolia Science and Technology Department reported that the Xinao Wujing gasification coal mining and methanol, methane, power generation cogeneration industrial pilot project is now producing 150,000 cubic meters of synthetic gas per day. The project has achieved a coal resource utilization rate exceeding 75%, marking a significant breakthrough in the efficient use of lignite. This innovative approach has successfully addressed the long-standing challenge of difficult lignite mining, positioning the development and production of combustible gas as a vital resource for China’s chemical industry. Lignite, also known as brown coal, is a type of coal with a higher degree of coalification than peat. Globally, brown coal reserves are estimated at over 1 trillion tons, with China holding approximately 211.8 billion tons and Inner Mongolia alone possessing nearly 200 billion tons. However, due to its fragile and unstable structure, lignite is difficult to mine using traditional underground methods, leading to safety concerns and inefficiencies. To tackle this issue, Hebei Xinao Gasification Coal Mining Group collaborated with China University of Mining and Technology to conduct research and trials at the Gonggou coal mine in Wulanchabu, Inner Mongolia. From April 18 to October 13, 2007, the team spent six months constructing an underground gasifier along with ground-based systems, including gas collection, initial purification, desulfurization, and sewage treatment. These facilities formed the foundation of the gasification coal mining pilot project. On October 22, 2007, the base was successfully ignited, producing underground gasification gas for the first time. This marked a major milestone, proving that China's independently developed gasification technology could operate without traditional pit mining. According to ongoing monitoring data, the project currently generates 150,000 cubic meters of syngas daily, with a calorific value of 800-1000 calories per cubic meter. The combustible gas produced is expected to play a key role in national chemical production. The new Austrian gasification coal mining project has not only solved three critical technical challenges but also made progress in areas such as gasification channel penetration and the control of continuous gasification process parameters using pure oxygen and steam. Additionally, the project has passed safety and environmental assessments by the National Puni Monitoring Center, meeting national environmental standards. Currently, the Xinao Wujing gasification coal mining test has been included in the major scientific and technological projects of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Six of its technologies are now being patented, highlighting the innovation and potential of this groundbreaking project.
