Yokogawa Electric, Microsoft, and other four companies reached cooperation in the field of industrial IoT

On January 8, Yokogawa announced that it will cooperate with Microsoft, FogHorn Systems, Bayshore Networks and Telit IoT Platforms LLC to use their technology for the Industrial Internet of Things ( IIoT) Build a new service architecture. In this architecture, Yokogawa will reform its business model, expand its business scope, and help customers run their businesses more efficiently.

Overview of cooperation The advancement of network technology, the cost reduction of large-capacity data communications, and the transfer of enterprise information systems to the cloud, etc., all of these technologies have provided conditions for the actual use of IIoT technology. However, the use of IIoT technology also faces many technical challenges in terms of sensing, automation and safety. At the same time, the establishment of such systems and application development will inevitably require high costs. Yokogawa owns expertise in a wide range of fields from sensor technology to control logic and application technology to help customers solve the problems they face and provide customers with integrated solutions ranging from sensing to control and cloud computing to the customer.

All four companies have key components of the IIoT architecture technology, Plug and Play*1 sensors, Sensing Cloud and Auto-Configuration*2, Database Cloud, and Historical Database (Data Storage) Cloud. For the integration of these technologies, Yokogawa Motors decided to collaborate with the four companies to develop the IIoT framework for business process applications.

This work will be centered on Yokogawa's California Infrastructure Development Office established in November 2016. Yokogawa's IIoT architecture will include Microsoft Azure's IoT suite cloud, FogHorn's fog computing software, Bay's OSI reference model*4's seven*3 layer security technology, and Telit's embedded sensor communications module.
