The Waukegan Police and Fire Memorial Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was established in 2017 by members of the Waukegan Police and Fire Departments. The idea came from a deep sense of duty and care for the families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice—whether on or off duty while actively serving. Our goal is to provide immediate financial support to surviving spouses and children in times of need. Beyond that, we also plan to offer small birthday and holiday gifts to the children, as well as larger gifts at key milestones like 8th grade and high school graduation.
We believe these gestures are meaningful, but more importantly, they remind families that they are still part of our extended police and fire family. After taking a break last year due to the pandemic, we’re excited to bring back our annual fundraiser this year. Join us for an evening of laughter with Michael Winslow, best known as Sgt. “Motor Mouth†Jones from *Police Academy*, and his friends at the Genesee Theatre on September 9th at 7:30 PM.
In addition to ticket sales, we’ll be selling custom patches for $10 each. Each patch also includes one raffle ticket for a chance to win a stay at a Lazy Haven Cabin in Gatlinburg, TN. Winners can choose from several cabins, with available dates on January 10–14, 17–21, or 24–28. This is a great opportunity to support a cause that honors our fallen heroes and helps their families during difficult times.
