What is a pickup? It is a sound pickup accessory used for synchronous monitoring system recording. Graphically speaking: The camera is the eye and the pickup is the ear. DVRs store sounds and images, and monitors and speakers are used for playback.

Is the microphone a microphone? Not all right. The pickup not only includes a high-sensitivity microphone, but also incorporates a preamplifier circuit. Therefore, the pickup can be directly connected to the DVR, active speakers, headphones, sound cards, etc., and the microphone needs to be connected to the amplifier. In addition, ordinary microphones are usually directional and low-sensitivity, and they are aligned at very close distances. The pickups are mostly designed to be highly sensitive, non-directional, or omni-directional in order to pick up sound farther.

Cautions for installation of pickups Do not use near water sources. Use only a damp cloth for surface cleaning. Do not spray liquid on the pickup, as it will destroy the pickup circuit. Install the pickups as instructed in the manual. Do not install the pickup in places with heat sources such as microwave ovens, heaters, stoves, power amplifiers, etc. Do not remove the safety ground wire of the power supply and confirm that the power supply will not be pinched or stepped on, especially at both ends of the power cable. Try to use the accessories or accessories provided by our company. The use of standard professional audio equipment to use, give full play to its effectiveness. During installation, confirm that moving the cable will not cause harm to the equipment or personnel. Lightning weather or long-term unused, please save this. Provide detailed maintenance information for professional service personnel. When the pickup has problems, including: damage to the power cord, liquid or other items entering the interior of the pickup, when the pickup is exposed to rain or moisture, improper operation, or falling from a height, do not repair by yourself. In general, the pickup will have some heat during work, use it in a dry and ventilated place, and keep it away from other devices by more than 10 cm. When this pickup is used with a power amplifier and a headphone or speaker, it may cause high sound pressure that can damage your hearing. Do not use it under high sound pressure or harsh conditions for a long time. If you feel hearing loss or tinnitus, you need to go Do auditory correction. When not in use for a long time, pack the pickups and keep them dry.

Installation of Pickup Flow 1. Selection of Pickup Locations Pickups can be ceiling mounted or mounted on the side of a wall. The installation location should be as close to the main conversation area as possible. For example, the interrogation room may be installed near the person being tried; the classroom may be installed near the podium; and the small meeting room may be installed at the center of the ceiling. Installation principle: Try to get close to the main conversation area. This kind of pick-up effect is better.

2. Selection and Wiring of Pickup Connecting Cables The technical requirements of the connecting cables of the pickups are low, and it is possible to use common 4-core telephone lines, Category 5 network twisted pairs, and shielded/unshielded signal cables. Considering the complex construction environment, it is recommended to use a 0.5mm2 cross section 3-core signal cable. The commonly used 3 × 0.5 RVVP cable, as shown in the following figure: pickup power supply generally uses a remote centralized power supply (ie centralized power supply in the audio recording equipment / amplification equipment), the use of the three-core cable, respectively, for the power cord, Audio signal lines, public grounds. Shielded cables can be used in electromagnetic complex environments where the shielding layer is connected to the equipment ground. That is, the shielding net connected to one end of the pickup is suspended, and the shielding net connected to one end of the audio device is connected to the equipment ground (chassis). Note: It is best to route the cables separately. Do not use the same cable tray with strong AC power, and try to keep away from strong electromagnetic interference devices such as transformers and luminaire rectifiers.

3, the connection of the positive power cord method Pickup power supply method requires the use of remote centralized power supply (ie, concentrated in the audio recording equipment / amplification equipment side power supply), its main purpose is to have stronger anti-jamming and noise capabilities. It is recommended to use the 15V DC regulated high-quality power supply provided by our pickup adapter (see the instructions for use of the pickup adapter below) to avoid degradation of sound quality due to dirty power supply.

This series of pickups can use 8V-20V wide range DC power supply, DC12V is recommended. If the power line is greater than 500 meters, due to the line loss generated by the voltage drop, it is recommended to use 15V-20V DC power supply.

Because the pickup is a very sensitive small-signal amplification device, it is sensitive to the clutter of the power supply, and it is necessary to use a clean, high quality DC stabilized power supply with a small amount of clutter. A single pickup consumes about 10-30 mA of current, which means that a nominally 1 amp DC regulated power supply can operate at least 10 SWIFT pickups at the same time. The power supply efficiency and line loss should be taken into consideration in the application. Try to use a power supply with a higher nominal value. The DC stabilized power supply referred to here is often referred to as a "transformer" and is generally composed of a power transformer, a rectifier diode, a filter capacitor, and an integrated voltage regulator. Can not use switching power supply, it may introduce a lot of circuit noise to the pickup! What is a switching power supply? Simply put, it is a switch type DC power supply, which is an automatic power supply with an electronic switch and an electronic switch oscillator. For example, an ordinary desktop computer power supply is a switching power supply.

4. The common ground connection of the negative pole of the power supply and the audio ground wire The audio ground wire and negative power supply of the pickup are combined into one and must be connected to the negative pole of the DC stabilized power supply and the ground line of the audio input terminal (LineIn) of the audio equipment. As shown below:

If the power ground and audio ground are not well connected, the sound quality will be degraded or there will be no sound. If the ground of the LineIn terminal of the audio equipment is not connected to the ground of the pickup, the sound will generally be very small.

5, audio cable connection audio signal line and audio ground can be directly connected to the device: Acoustic headphones, active speakers, audio amplifier, audio and video distributor, DVR hard disk recorders, video servers, mixers, tape recorders, sound cards LineIn linear input or other audio equipment (microphone interface is strictly prohibited).

(1) Hard disk recorders Most hard disk recorders have corresponding audio input ports, which are generally coaxial cable BNC plugs. The pickup audio cable needs to be connected to the center pin position of the BNC plug. The pickup must be connected to the shell of the BNC plug (that is, the shielded copper mesh connected to the coaxial cable) (2), and the self-powered active speaker. A set of ordinary active speakers are generally left and right, corresponding to the left and right audio channels, respectively. This pickup only provides one sound source, so it is a "mono" sound source. The audio cable of the pickup is connected to the left/right audio cable of the speaker cable, and the pickup is connected to the ground of the speaker cable in common. (3) Other methods of connecting audio equipment such as power amplifiers and mixing consoles are the same as those described above. (4) It is forbidden to connect the pickups to the microphone (MIC) input terminals of sound cards, mixers, amplifiers, etc., otherwise the equipment may be damaged. This is because the microphone inside contains a microphone, but it also includes amplification, noise reduction, echo processing and other circuits, output "LineOut" audio signal above 1Vpp. (5) Notebook computers are seldom equipped with "LineIn" audio input jacks, generally only equipped with MIC input jacks and SPEAKER output jacks. The pickup cannot be directly connected to the MIC port. Only a professional external USB interface desktop sound card can be purchased. Use the “LineIn” port to access it. (6) The pickup audio cable cannot be directly connected to the two audio devices. The pickup adapter must be connected to avoid deterioration of the sound quality due to impedance mismatch. Note: During all connections or toggle switches, adjust the volume of your amplifier to a minimum to avoid momentary electrical shock.

7. Connection of Pickup Adapter In the rear panel, INPUT1 and INPUT2 terminals respectively correspond to the wiring of two pickups. The cable hole with the middle mark “A” connects the audio cable of the pickup, the cable hole with the mark “V” connects with the power cable of the pickup, and the hole marked “G” connects with the public ground of the pickup. The yellow OUT1 and OUT2 terminals respectively correspond to the output wiring of the two pickups and can be connected to the Line-In input of other audio devices, where “A” is the audio line and “G” is the audio ground. MIX is the mixed output of two pickups. OUT1 and OUT2 indicate the output of the lotus head corresponding to the sound output of the 1 and 2 way pickups. MIX is the output terminal after the 1 and 2 channels are mixed. The above audio output terminal and the headphone jack on the front panel output the same sound, but the front panel headphone jack is easier to test. These terminals/jacks can be connected to different audio devices (hard disk recorders, mixers, headphones, etc.) at the same time.

8. What problems should be paid attention to when picking up the pickup?

The matching of pickups with other audio amplification, audio amplification or recording equipment is important. If not connected properly, it will not only affect the pickup effect of the pickups, but will even damage the pickups and other equipment. During all connections or toggle switches, adjust the volume of your amplifier to a minimum to avoid momentary electrical shock.

A. Basic requirements for pickup connection:

(1) Matching the signal level: When connecting the pickups, be sure to pay attention to the difference between the input and output signal levels between the devices. If the level of the input signal of the fore-stage equipment is too large, non-linear distortion will be generated. Otherwise, the signal-to-noise ratio of the playback system will be reduced, and even the amplifiers of the next-level equipment will not be able to be pushed. Therefore, attention must be paid when using the equipment. The levels should not differ too much. If the signal level does not adapt in actual use, the input signal level must be reduced by the attenuation circuit, or the level of the input signal must be increased by the amplifier circuit. For pickups, since the output signal level is 0.75~1Vpp or more, it can be directly sent to the “LineIn” port of the audio device.

(2) Impedance matching: If the impedances do not match when the microphone is connected to a speaker or other device, the output power of the amplifier will be unevenly distributed, or the transient characteristics of the overdamped ambassador will deteriorate. Impedance matching connections are generally balanced and unbalanced. Balanced means that the two-core shielded line of the transmission signal has the same impedance to ground. The so-called unbalanced type refers to two-core shielded wires, one of which is grounded. When the balanced output is connected to an unbalanced input, matching transformers must be added for matching. Note that the pickup's output impedance is 600 ohms unbalanced.

B. Connector connection method: The connection between pickup and recording equipment, hard disk recorder, sound box and computer sound card is accomplished by various connectors. The commonly used connectors are as follows.

(1) Two-core/three-pin plug: It is mainly used to transmit signals between various devices and input plugs as input signals of pickups. According to its diameter is divided into 2.5mm, 3.5mm, 6.5mm three, two-pin plug for mono, three-pin plug for the two-channel. For example, the portable speakers or computer powered speakers may use the three-pin stereo plug shown below. The left and right earbuds or speakers correspond to the left and right audio channels of the audio plug respectively. This pickup only provides one sound source, so it is a "mono" sound source. The audio lines of the pickups can be connected to the left/right channels separately or simultaneously, and the pickups are connected to the audio ground in common.

The left and right channels can simultaneously pick up the audio polarity of the pickup (2) Lotus plug: It is mainly used as the input and output plug of the line between audio equipment or video equipment.

(3) BNC plug: It is mainly used for connection between video equipments, but at present, it is also used by many brands of hard disk recorders to input audio. 9. General failures are eliminated. A. The most frequently encountered problems in using microphones are silent. Can be determined using the exclusion method:

1). Use a multimeter to measure the DC power supply voltage at the pickup end. The required voltage is between 8V-20V.

2). If you have multiple pickups, you can compare them across wiring to determine if they are faulty pickups or cables or other ancillary equipment.

3). If the audio cable is connected to another audio device, disconnect it and connect it directly to the Walkman/Computer normal active speaker for testing. If the sound is normal and there is no problem with the pickup itself, check the connected audio equipment or other aspects.

4). Whether the wiring is intact and reliable.

5). Whether the interface of the amplifying device is matched with the pickup, and whether the volume of the amplifying device is adjusted properly.

6). It is forbidden to connect the pickups to the microphone (MIC) input of sound cards, mixers, amplifiers, etc., otherwise the equipment may be damaged. This is because the interior of the pickup includes a microphone, but it also includes circuits such as amplification, noise reduction, and echo processing. The output of the pickup is a "LineOut" audio signal of 1Vpp or more.

B. Pickups are very noisy or of poor quality. Please check the following aspects:

1). The pickup cannot be powered by a switching power supply. Use a good 12V normal DC power supply. You can use the pickup's premium power supply or adapter to power it.

2). If the audio cable is connected to another audio device, disconnect it and connect it directly to the Walkman/PC for normal active speakers. If the noise disappears, there is no problem with the pickup itself, check the connected audio equipment or other aspects.

3). Check if the noise is caused by the sound self-excitation: The monitoring speaker must not be too close to the pickup, try not to test in the same room. Because of the high sensitivity of the pickup, the feedback of the sound of the speaker to the microphone of the pickup will inevitably lead to the sound self-stimulating howling. The same room needs monitoring and headphones can be used.

4). It is best to route the cables separately. Do not use the same cable tray with strong AC power, and try to keep away from strong electromagnetic interference devices such as transformers and luminaire rectifiers. The use of 3X0.5RVVP shielded cable can also effectively avoid external interference, which requires the shield to be grounded at one end (see the wiring description above).

5). It is forbidden to connect the pickup to the microphone (MIC) input of the sound card, mixer, amplifier, etc., otherwise the device may be damaged. This is because the interior of the pickup includes a microphone, but it also includes circuits such as amplification, noise reduction, and echo processing. The output of the pickup is a "LineOut" audio signal of 1Vpp or more.

6). Some video monitors have their own speakers, but they may not work well. Please use high-quality headphones or active speakers for monitoring.

7). The quality of the integrated sound card on some computer motherboards is poor. When recording, it will cause serious noise. Please use a quality independent sound card such as Chuangtong.

8). Check whether the volume of the pickup's sound gain potentiometer or amplifier is adjusted properly.

9). Some brands of audio distributors are not of high quality, which can lead to boring sound, cracking, etc. Please use high quality dispensers or our company's pickup adapters.

10). Some models of hard disk recorders only focus on video processing and ignoring audio processing may result in poor quality of the synchronized recording. Please disconnect the DVR first and then directly use high quality headphones or powered speakers to listen to the audio line. If the sound quality is good, you can be sure there is no problem with the quality of the pickup.

11). If noise is identified from the environment, noise reduction adapters can be used to effectively filter ambient noise.
