Fire crews were dispatched to a house fire just before 1:00 PM on Sunday afternoon in the 300 block of Division Street in Lemont, Illinois. Upon arrival, they encountered heavy fire in Sector C and quickly upgraded the incident to a full-blown structure fire. The interior was filled with a significant amount of clutter, making it challenging to reach the seat of the fire. Firefighters stretched both interior and exterior lines, including one line in Sector C that provided access to the second floor.
The fire eventually spread to the attic space of both the two-story and one-story sections of the home. At that point, companies were ordered to pull back into a defensive position. Lemont Engine 921’s deck gun, Tri-State’s tower ladder, and Lemont Truck 949 were deployed, and the remaining fire in the attic was brought under control shortly after. Fortunately, the homeowner was not present at the time and returned to find their home completely destroyed.
