Only about 10% passed the international ISO/TS16949 certification and entered the global supplier team.
ISO/TS16949 certification is a technology of the international automotive industry
specification. According to the relevant person in charge of the Municipal Council for the Promotion of International Trade, it provides a common platform for global automakers, which is conducive to breaking through technical barriers, ensuring the global consistency of the supply chain service quality system, reducing the number of second party audits, and eliminating duplicate third party auditing requirements.
There are more than 1,000 auto parts manufacturers in Hubei, including more than 300 enterprises above designated size. In 2005, the production and sales of automobile parts and components in the province totaled 29.8 billion yuan.
Another data shows that these Hubei enterprises are generally small. At the end of June, the list of "China's top 100 auto parts in 2005" was released, and Hubei was ranked 5th. Wuhan is not on the list.
Local parts and components companies need to be bigger in “going outâ€. Insiders believe that joining the global industrial supply chain through international certification is a trend in the auto parts industry.
