The 20,000-ton/year sulphur refining device using the domestically-manufactured sulphur-melting technology produced sulfur with a purity of 99.94% at the Yanan Petrochemical Plant on December 26, 2011. This set of equipment is China's first set of sulfur refining equipment using the supporting LO-CAT process. Previously, sulfur products produced by domestic sulfur recovery plants were mostly semi-finished products containing sulfur and impurities. The set-up of the device has been completed and put into production, which has improved the purity and product quality of sulfur products and added value to the products. At the same time, the device is characterized by low consumption and high efficiency, which can significantly increase the hydrogen sulfide treatment capacity of the upstream production unit. The device is composed of a sulfur refining unit, a sulfur granulating unit and a packaging pallet 3, and the sulfur-containing waste water and the liquefied gas are desulfurized by a solvent regeneration and a sewage stripping device, and then the hydrogen sulfide gas generated by the liquefied gas sweetening device enters the sulfur recovery device. The elemental sulfur with a purity of 65.05% is produced and then melted and re-processed to obtain refined sulfur with a purity of 99.9% or more. The sulfur granulation unit and the packaging palletizing unit granulate and package the sulfur produced in the refining unit to produce a qualified finished product sulfur.
During the trial run, the plant overcame many problems such as the frequent blockage of the sewage outlet pipeline control valves, filters, flowmeters, and plugging of the feeding system pipelines. It opened the process flow on December 15, 2011, yielding a purity of 99.94%. Liquid sulfur, the product was packaged and shipped on December 26, 2011.
