Hyundai Heavy Industries develops "marine weather forecasting system"

Hyundai Heavy Industries, the world's largest shipbuilder, has announced that it has jointly developed the "Marine Weather Forecast System" with the Korea Institute of Marine Science and Technology (KIOST) . The system will analyze ocean weather information, such as wave height, wind speed and water flow patterns, covering areas such as Ulsan, Gunsan and Jeju Island in South Korea, which will help Hyundai Heavy Industries forecast weather in advance 72 hours and help Ulsan Shipyard plan and manage new shipbuilding for sea trials. , forecast once every hour.

This weather forecasting system will also reduce the chance of delays due to unpredictable weather conditions through accurate ocean weather forecasts, covering Mipo Bay and Jeonha Bay where Hyundai Heavy Industries is located, in units of 60 meters, and in electronic navigation maps. Ocean weather information is displayed on it. This weather forecasting system connects 530 weather observation equipment across Korea, which is more than 10% accurate than other existing weather systems. Since 2006 , Hyundai Heavy Industries has installed 18 weather observation equipment at its Ulsan Shipyard to conduct weather management, monitor weather 24 hours a day, and inform employees of weather analysis.
