·In August, the polarization of luxury car sales in the Chinese market has intensified

According to the retail sales data of luxury car brands in the Chinese market last month, both the first-line German luxury brands and the second-line luxury cars have shown significant polarization.
Among the top three German luxury brands, Mercedes-Benz sales in China rose by 50% last month, while Audi and BMW still fell year-on-year, but the decline was better than the previous two months. Among the second-line luxury brands, Infiniti’s sales in China last month also increased by 50% year-on-year. Porsche also maintained double-digit growth, but the formerly ranked Jaguar Land Rover and Volvo relied on other markets to offset the cooling situation in China.

The following are specific sales counts.

Audi: Even falling, still sitting in the top spot

Audi delivered 45,196 new cars to consumers in the Chinese market in August, compared with 47,145 deliveries in August 2014, down 4.1% year-on-year.

The above is covering the delivery/terminal/retail sales of imported cars. In terms of wholesale sales of domestically produced cars, Audi reached 42,753 vehicles in China in August, a slight increase of 0.3% from the 42,619 vehicles in August 2014, achieving a rebound. Specific to the model wholesale sales, Audi A4 performed better, from 7,800 vehicles rose 30.3% year-on-year to 10,161; Audi A6 and Audi Q3 have slipped; Audi A3 benefited from the Lim sedan model to join the growth.

From January to August, Audi's cumulative sales in China was 361,316 units, a slight decrease of 0.8% year-on-year compared with 364,090 units in the same period last year. Wholesale sales of domestically produced vehicles also dropped 3.4% year-on-year to 315,667 units from 326,714 units.

Although Audi's delivery volume in August still fell, it still accounts for nearly one-third of China's luxury car market share, and its sales ranking has always been the number one brand. The company plans to release more than 10 new cars in China by mid-2016 to boost sales.

Among the major luxury car brands, Porsche is still one of the highest sales growth in the Chinese market.
