Data Survey: Analysis of Intellectual Property Status of LED Lighting Industry

(I) Research Background With the development of technology, the competition in the LED industry has become increasingly fierce, and intellectual property rights and technical barriers have gradually become the main mode of competition. Since 2008, the LED industry has suffered four investigations in 337, involving more than 20 Chinese companies. The technical fields involved include chips and packaging, and gradually shift to the application design field; technical standards and quality standards are increasing, UL, In addition to FCC, ES and other forms of testing and certification, different countries will also introduce corresponding access standards, resulting in unpredictable market impact. Whether it is in domestic innovation, or exporting to open up foreign markets, increasing innovation capabilities, and the trend of the industry, are the parts of China's LED enterprise management that need to be further deepened. Based on this, the LED Industry Patent Alliance organized this survey, mainly to investigate the intellectual property status of LED lighting companies, in order to understand the status quo of intellectual property in the LED lighting industry. (II) Survey sample and content The sample of this survey was selected as the large and medium-sized LED-based products of the Guangdong LED lighting industry cluster and some member units of the LED industry patent alliance, covering the middle and lower reaches of the industrial chain. International and domestic markets. The content of this survey is aimed at the type of operation of LED enterprises, intellectual property management personnel, intellectual property reserves, and the status of intellectual property rights in product exports. Through qualitative issues, the company understands the technical and intellectual property needs of enterprises. (III) Analysis of the Intellectual Property Status of Enterprises in the LED Lighting Industry Cluster Area This survey provides information on the status quo and existing problems of LED lighting enterprises by issuing questionnaires. At the same time, through field visits, the information on the interpretation of the questionnaire data is obtained for comprehensive analysis and interpretation. The following are the specific situations: 1. The industrial chain is complete in layout, and the technological innovation is based on imitation and cooperation. According to Guangdong's industrial and commercial statistics, there are more than 15,000 LED companies in Guangdong Province, and more than 4,000 enterprises above designated size. In this survey, the companies that actively provide questionnaires are generally small-scale enterprises, while small and micro enterprises account for only a small part (Figure 3.1). A small micro-enterprise surveyed said that it hopes to obtain high-tech certification through intellectual property rights and further seek government financial support. Although intellectual property plays an important role in protecting innovation and achieving rapid value-added development, it is difficult for SME managers in their lifetime to have the energy and financial resources to understand intellectual property issues. Figure 3.1 LED enterprise scale The LED lighting industry cluster is relatively complete in the industrial chain layout, with enterprise distribution at various industrial levels, and enterprises usually involve multiple different industrial chain levels. As can be seen from Figure 3.2, the packaging and lighting applications are the two key technical areas of the LED lighting industry cluster, and the degree of aggregation of enterprises is relatively high. In the field of epitaxy and chip, due to the high technical content and high input cost, the entry barrier is raised, and only a few companies are involved. Dehao Runda, Zhongjia Semiconductor, Kaixin Optoelectronics, etc. rely on capital or technological advantages to guide the LED lighting industry cluster to expand upstream. In the fields of driving power supply, bracket, MCPCB, etc., there are also enterprises involved in the gathering area to achieve a complete industrial chain layout.
